Wonderful travel memories

Wednesday, October 2nd, 2019

My husband and I have recently returned from six weeks Touring which incorporated a 9 day Japan Combination Package  offered by Sunrise Tours

We were delighted with our Japan packaged tour.  The accommodation, sightseeing experiences,  guides, transfers and scheduling were all of excellent standard.  The weather was sunny and humid except for the day of our scheduled visit to Mt Fuji!  However, broiling clouds, pelting rain and gale force winds make for good photos!

On this memorable day, my husband managed to leave his shoulder sling bag on the bus.  He noticed it missing when we got to Yumoto Fujiya Hotel in Hakone.  Next morning the Sunrise Tours’ representative, Yumi, transferred us to the Odawara Railway Station to travel to Kyoto.  We shared a taxi with her and discovered that Odawara was hosting the Australian Rugby Team for the World Cup competition.  A lively Rugby conversation ensued and a symbolic photo had to be taken!  This concentration lapse resulted in my husband leaving the rail tickets and itinerary in the taxi.  When this was realised, Yumi arranged replacement tickets and refund paperwork for us and gave detailed written instructions on where and how to have these tickets reimbursed.  Meanwhile, the resourceful taxi driver had discovered the tickets and returned them to the hotel. (I hope his team prediction wins the Cup!)  Yumi had heard me comment that this was the second item left behind.  She asked for details.

When we arrived in Kyoto she followed up with a phone call to say the bag had been found; the tickets had been handed in and both would be available at the Sunrise Tours office at our Tokyo Hotel upon our return.

We left Japan with the returned shoulder bag; ticket reimbursement; wonderful travel memories and strong feelings of gratitude to Yumi for all the extra assistance she had given us.  This note is written in the hope that your company can acknowledge her efforts on behalf of Sunrise Tours’ clients.  If she is representative of your company’s employees’ professional attitude to hosting International visitors then we feel the people attending the Rugby Cup 2019, the Tokyo 2020 Olympics and other visitors to Japan are in good hands.

Yours sincerely,

Jacqueline

We will always remember

Hi Mika,
We arrived back home last Wednesday. We had a great trip and found Japan an extremely interesting and friendly country. Everything went well
and we managed to catch the trains, find our hotels and enjoy the day tours you booked for us. The weather was generally good and it was quite warm in Kanazawa.

We saw lots of beautiful cherry blossoms as well as Mt. Fuji from the plane and on the day tour. It also snowed while we were in Sapporo. I would definitely like to return to see and experience more of the wonderful culture and lovely people.

Thank you very much for helping to organize our holiday, which we will always remember.

Regards,
Marilyn

Mt Fuji Climb – Tour to Remember

Wednesday, July 22nd, 2015

Koyomi San

Just to let you know I undertook the Mt Fuji climb earlier this week. The guides and all the people involved were very good. The whole thing worked well, and I would appreciate it if you could let them know in the right way how valuable a role they perform.

The weather treated us well, and to see the sun rise over Mt Fuji was a special privilege.

Thank you very much to you also.

Regards,

Stephen

so many wonderful memories

Tuesday, March 10th, 2015

Hi Miyuki,

Just wanted to (finally) email you regarding our recent trip to Japan.

We had a fantastic time! There was plenty of snow (we just missed being snowed in at Takayama!) and plenty of cold weather but we loved it just the same. The two tours we had booked, the Mt Fuji-Hakone tour and the all day Kyoto tour, were facilitated by energetic, enthusiastic guides who were very knowledgable about the areas we were travelling through and the sites we got to see. We were so pleased that we spent the extra money to go on these tours as they showed the best of the areas as well as not having to do it all ourselves. The lunch had on the Mt Fuji-Hakone tour was a highlight! Unfortunately the day we went on that tour, it was cold and very bleak so we didn’t get to see many of the beautiful views. It has already been decided though that next time we go we will do the same tour again so we can see what the views were supposed to be like!

It is so hard to pick a highlight city as we enjoyed all of them so much! The culture, the people, the food and the scenery (even when it was whizzing past when on the bullet trains) was spectacular! The bullet train system and the JR pass is just so efficient and easy to use and we were so grateful to have the pass as it meant we could just go to the station, reserve a ticket and know that we would be able to get a seat for our journey. It also meant that travelling on the public transport system was generally a breeze.

The hotels we stayed at were of high quality and had superb, attentive service. We often found ourselves saying ‘we can’t afford to stay here!’. The breakfast package that we purchased is highly recommended (especially in Tokyo – the breakfast selection was phenomenal!). Unfortunately we can’t rave about the hotel or the service we received at our hotel in Osaka – we found the staff to be very rude and unhelpful, the hotel to be dated, rooms very small in comparison to where we had been before and we were given a ‘sanitised’ smoking room when you had specifically requested a non-smoking room for us. We realise that these factors are beyond your control, however we thought we should bring them to your attention for your own reference.

A couple of things we would like to suggest are that some directions be provided on how to get to the hotel from the JR Station that you arrive at. Even if it is just which exit to take and then a simple ‘turn left’ would’ve been very helpful as we often ended up exiting at the wrong exit and having to rely on Google maps (which is not always reliable!). The other would be that an extra night in Takayama and Kyoto would’ve been fantastic so that we could really soak up all that was on offer. We are very happy that we added on an extra night in Tokyo and perhaps next time would add another day as we didn’t quite get to do everything that we wanted to.

We left Japan with a heavy heart as we had enjoyed our stay so much. Don’t worry – we will be going back again soon!

We would like to thank you so much for all your help and service in booking our trip. It was so easy and pain free (we had been to a couple of travel agents before getting in contact with JTB directly, and had not been happy with the service or the prices being quoted to us) and we will be recommending you highly to anyone who asks who we booked through. Thank you for helping us have such a wonderful trip and for helping us to create so many wonderful memories.

Our many thanks, Ashton and Lucy

Simply Perfect

Monday, February 2nd, 2015

Hi, We have just returned from our 18 day holiday in Japan.

I just wanted to let you know it was the perfect itinerary for us. Our wish list was all ticked off and we feel like our schedule was well planned and timed out for the days we had.

I was travelling with my two teenage girls and 10 yr old son, and we all agree it was truly memorable and great fun. Specifically, we loved the Dynamic Tokyo Tour. We saw so much more in one day than we could have in a much longer holiday or on our own. It was nice to be above ground on the bus for a change, as you see so much incidental scenery from the bus rather than popping out from the subway into a new realm. The Tokyo Dynamic Tour included a wonderful lunch, the yummiest teppanyaki we’d ever had, and wandering the gardens at both the lunch and tea ceremony sights felt like a privilege. All the staff we encountered were generous, caring and humorous. The Nakamise walkway up to Sensoji Temple was such a surprise and we wouldnt have gone if it wasnt part of the tour.

We enjoyed the Mt Fuji trip and agree with Clement that it was a good choice to make that our first day in Japan, I think we would otherwise have wasted a day acclimatising and wandering aimlessly. Being on tour for our first day, forced us out of bed early but more importantly gave us time to get used to the currency, weather, language and ask pertinent questions to a tour guide face to face.

We are grateful for your recommendation to stay at Biyu no Yado Ryokan in Yudanaka. The homestyle feel and traditional meals and accommodation were something we had never experienced. Very memorable for us all to sleep on futons and tatami, and the food surprised us so much. Some of it challenged us to try but everything was delicious (even the dried up salted looking fish that stared up at us from the plate), we agreed it was the best thing we ate all week. From here we enjoyed the snow monkey visit and found two staff; Daniel and Kaori, exceptional hosts.

Most importantly for me, I found all your notes helpful. Validating passes, locating reference numbers for bookings, phone numbers, meeting times etc- it was all so clearly laid out that I was able to enjoy the holiday knowing nothing would go wrong if I followed your instructions. So a big thank you from me, I enjoyed my kids company more for never having to “get stuck”.

Thanks Clement, should we be lucky enough to return to Japan, we will definitely use you guys again.

Warm Regards,
Jodi

Mt Fuji, best day was had!

Tuesday, November 4th, 2014

Hi Kirrily

Well I am just back from my wonderful cruise from Japan through to Singapore. We were delayed a day due to the typhoon and at the time were unsure if we the Mt Fuji tour would operate at all. As luck would have it, the tour went ahead and the day cleared and we had one of the best days to see it.

I just wanted to say that the operation in Japan was truly professional and so very well organised. Everything was co-ordinated with total professionalism and the tour guide we had ‘Harry’ was brilliant.

Thanks for your help and I look forward to working with you in the near future.

Kind regards;  Crystal

Hi Olivia,

Sadly my trip is over but I just wanted to thank you for your very efficient service in providing our JR passes, tour tickets to Mt Fuji and Ghibli museum vouchers.   Sunrise Tours were great.  We look forward to our next trip to Japan and would certainly be using your service again.

Thanks
Pam

Very Impressed with JTB Service

Wednesday, June 13th, 2012
Dear Yoshie,

We’re back home from our holiday in Singapore and Japan last week.

We were very impressed with the JTB service. A JTB representative is always there to meet us at every train arrival as well as to send us off at every train departure to ensure that we have boarded the right train safely, etc.  We took the Nozomi Bullet Train from Kyoto to Tokyo. Wow, so fast and accurate. The train system is also very good. We should use it here in Melbourne.

Japan is a very nice country, clean, and the people are very courteous.  The people are always willing to assist us even if they don’t speak very good English.

Thank you very much for all your assistance and service in making our holiday in Japan a wonderful experience.

I attach three photos of our trip, one taken at Mt Fuji (5th Station), the second at Tokyo Tower and the third one Russell and I with Hachiko (the dog) at Shibuya.

Please tell the JTB management in Japan that we were very impressed with their service and we wouldn’t hesitate recommending the service to others who are thinking of travelling to Japan.

With best wishes,
Bella

We really enjoyed it

Lily

This just a quick thank you for arranging the trip to Mount Fuji on Thursday 10 March at such late notice (I called you from Sydney airport on March 1 literally just as we were boarding to change the date from the 9th March). We just wanted to let you know that the trip to Mt Fuji was great and we really enjoyed it and will be recommending it to our friends.

It was the last day before the tragic earthquake. We were in Tokyo station (kitchen street) during the earthquake and whilst it was prettry scary we were lucky compared to so many others. I have to say that we were so impressed with and grateful to the Japanese people who helped us and were concerned for our welfare despite their own problems. The way that everyone handled the situation was also very impressive.

We also hope that your family were safe and well

Thank you again Lily

Gary and Michelle

Everything that you had booked was GREAT

Monday, September 27th, 2010

Hi Lily

Thought you should know that we have now been and come home. We had a great time in Japan and everything that you had booked was great.

Just wanted to let you know about the hotels if you have any other families looking to stay in 1 room.

New Miyako Hotel, Kyoto – Triple room was great the beds are nearly an Australian Double so plenty of room

Hakone Hotel – Triple room was big – 3rd bed was a sofa bed but other beds were nearly Australian Double beds as well, the location of this hotel is fantastic on Lake Ashi but the rooms are well used and could do with a refurbishment and a good clean but for 1 night and the fantastic views of Mt Fuji – well worth it.

Ghibli Museum – If we hadn’t been to Disneyland & Universal Studios in LA, we probably would have been very impressed with this, but we had and most of the information is in Japanese which makes it very hard to understand what it is all about. Although getting there & back was a real adventure!

Tokyo Morning Tour was very helpful in giving us a layout of tokyo and the guide was very helpful with directions and advise for the trains, etc.

Once again, thank you for all your help in organising our holiday to Japan, it has changed so much since I was there 20 years ago. Very easy to travel around yourself as just about everything is in English and everyone was very helpful if we needed directions.

Regards
Sharon

We would jump at the opportunity to do it all over again!

Thursday, June 10th, 2010

Dear Noriko

Just an e-mail of thanks and to tell you how much we enjoyed our holiday, Re-your itinerary you customised for us.
We would jump at the opportunity to do it all over again!. Unfortunately the expense would not enable us to do it again so quickly!. The break between City life at Hakone and to enjoy the onsen (Volcanic spring baths) was an awesome experience, and at every opportunity we indulged in the experience, not to mention the view of Mount Fuji and lake Ashi from the Hotel. There is so much of the wonderful experience of Japan I could mention but time does not permit. But on that point, also thanks for acquiring us hotels close to the Rail Station which helped considerably cost wise and time!. Although for your notification the Hotel in Osaka, New Hankyu, the bedroom was so small & uninviting compared to all the other hotels we were happy with only having to stay only approx. 15hrs so it could only go down as a temp. en-route stay prior to departure!.
Anyway! again thanks for your assistance in compiling an unforgettable experience for us.

Yours sincerely

Keith & Sophie
