One of the Best Trips Yet

Friday, April 26th, 2013

Hey Clem,

Just wanted to say thanks for such a great tour. My passengers absolutely loved it and said it was one of their best trips yet. They have 5 friends who are interested in doing the same tour next year and they may actually call you directly to have a chat about it. I said I wasn’t sure if you dealt directly with the general public but they had your number from their tour documents. Do you think you will run it again in 2014?

Cheers Sam

A Trip to Remember

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013
To whom it may concern, My husband Malcolm and I have just completed a wonderful holiday in Japan,  an 8 Day Sunrise Combination tour from Tokyo. We wish to congratulate all staff within the Japan Tour Company for their fantastic service during our Tour. All guides, hotel staff, taxi drivers, just everyone, were exceptional and the details such as meeting and greeting, placing us on trains, coaches etc., checking into hotels, meals, just everything, made our trip memorable and the experiences long lasting.

Could you please pass on our Thank You and Congratulations to all who are concerned. We would highly recommend touring with this Japanese Company to anyone. I have passed on this info. to our Travel Agent, Lynne Bird, Jetset, Devonport. Tasmania.

Again many thanks, we loved it.

Off The Beaten Track

Tuesday, April 16th, 2013
Hi Clement,
Just wanted to send you an email to thank you for your wonderful help with our trip in March. We have the most wonderful time and I’m so glad that we went off the beaten track and visited Takayama, Shirakawago and Kanazawa.
All the hotels were very easy to find and very convenient locations.
The trip really was one of my life highlights, such a wonderful country. I’m determined to go back again.
Again, thank you so much.
With regards,
Gillian

Hi,

Just letting you know that we had a great time on our trip and everything was organized perfectly.

I would definitely recommend Zao as a ski resort.

We had such a good time we intend to go again next year.

Thanks for your help and advice.

Thanks for the Brilliant Job

Thursday, March 28th, 2013
Good morning Olivia,

We all wanted to pass on our thanks for the brilliant job you did in planning our holiday in Japan. Everything went really well. But  we would have liked to have had more time there!! We all want to go back to different spots to look in more depth.

We decided to use our Rail passes for everything,as we enjoyed the trains so much.Especially the wide view Hida trains which we decided we preferred over the bullet train. Much more space, and great for the views, which of course were stunning through the Alps.

Loved both the ryokan style hotels of course. But we were also very impressed with our budget hotels. In particular, the Shinjuku Washington Hotel scored top points for location-local shops, eateries; proximity to tourist info at Tokyo local government building; the station close by; drop off from the airport bus at the hotel door-great after a long flight; convenience store and cafes in the building; its own laundromat; quietness; and wonderfully helpful staff who even came up and opened the window with a special tool for me as I found the heating stifling [same in all hotels but had opening windows, thank goodness] everywhere indoors.

Also you arranging 2 rooms for most of the trip was a great idea giving us that extra space.

Only disappointment was APA Hotel Kyoto Ekimae. A bit shabby, window  over a stairwell, poor room layout as compared with the others we stayed in, but worst was very disinterested and unhelpful staff- we almost missed our Nara tour because they failed to give us clear directions as to where we had to go and how to get to pickup point for the tour!!

We have already recommended you and JTB to many people.

Again many thanks,

Susan, Adrian and Zoe.

…already planning a next one!

Hey mate,

Niseko, the best snow

In short, it was brilliant!!

Tuesday, February 19th, 2013
Hi Olivia,

I just wanted to feed back about our trip.
In short it was brilliant!!  Everything you had organised was perfect, so thank you.

Here are a few comments for any future people you might book holidays for – I am sorry if you know these points but thought we would let you know
anyway:

1.  The snow is unbelievable!!!!    All resorts were covered with heaps and
there was fresh powder snow almost daily.

2.  Happo One is a fantastic resort to ski on with a sensational view and great wide runs.  However, I would suggest for absolute beginners it may not be the best…….the blacks are hard, the blues/reds are a bit harder than in victoria and so are the greens (although some of these might have been labelled dotted green).  For absolute beginners, we found the Tsugaike resort had a lot nicer green runs (a bit like the summit at Hotham or the bourke st buller run – but heaps and heaps of them).  Otherwise I found Happo One to be magnificent and would strongly recommend it for intermediate or experienced skiers.  Also, at Happo there were also heaps of runs which kept the day interesting.

3. I don’t know if you have used it much but the Yamano resort was fantastic.  The rooms were nice enough, the view of the ski jumps every morning at breakfast was spectacular and to top it off the Japanese bath was sensational at the end of every day’s skiing.  One of the complaints on trip advisor was the small bathrooms which is true, but I suspect none of these people used the gigantic japanese bath/sauna. Most of all, the service was top notch.  The hosts spoke English mostly pretty well and were always helpful.  We could call them anytime and they would come and pick us up in the resort (or drop us off).  Also, Yamano was really close to the chair lift.

4.  Regarding where to eat, I would tell people to relax…..everywhere we ate it was magnificent.  We even had 2 hot pot meals in Yamano which were great.  What I would recommend to people is to go to Echoland……its a small town nearby Happo (you can still get views of ski jump) and there are a number of restaurants here.  We went to Zen and Izakaya Hie (make sure to order okonomyaki -japanese pancake here!!).  Both were sensational – although we probably would give the vote to Zen.

5.  The snow monkey tour should be strongly recommended.  I think you had said we could use the JR East pass to get there, but when we spoke to the information centre at Nagano about this, we were told the way to get there was by bus so we didn’t book the train.  However, at our resort we saw a tour to the monkeys, lunch at a sake factory (can’t remember the town name) and finally the Zenkoji Temple in Nagano city.  By far the highlight of the day was the monkeys…..they are so cute and worth the trip!

6. My final comment is with the JR East pass.  It was useful to have all the tickets booked on day one so we knew where to go, what time and with a reserved seat, but I am not sure costwise whether it is cheaper just to buy the tickets on arrival.  As I said, we didn’t particularly mind and was pleased to have the reserved seats but given we only travelled narita-tokyo-nagano and return on the JR pass, others on a tighter budget might find it more useful to buy the tickets over there.

As I said, we had a brilliant week and hopefully will return.
