For lunch, head over to Laputa Farm with a fantastic terrace dining area overlooking an orchard (reservations required for BBQ course). Next onto Mt. Hiko; you’ll want to park here and take a cable car up to visit Hiko-san Shrine, a picturesque and designated Important Cultural Property. This off the beaten path site is considered a spiritual power spot, revered as one of the three great sacred sites of Shugendo, a mountain-based ascetic faith. End the night in Fukuoka city, where you’ll be staying 3-nights.
you prefer, check out some local sake shops and pair it with local food! For lunch, we recommend Hakata Mizutaki Chicken Hotpot at Toriden. For dinner, you can’t visit Fukuoka without experience the Yatai food stalls along Fukuoka Canal! Drop your car off this evening near Fukuoka Station.

Day 3: The Venice of Japan & sprawling tea fields of Yame

In the morning, drive 90-mins from Fukuoka down south to the canal town of Yanagawa to enjoy local folk songs from a charismatic boatman while punting along the town canals! While in town, have lunch at Motoyoshiya, serving up eel specialty dishes with over 340 years of established history. Travel onto Yame, famous for the Yame Central Tea Plantation; to enjoy some of the finest green tea whilst taking in views of the sprawling tea fields!
Return to Fukuoka city for the evening – we recommend trying Yakitori chicken skewers at Yakitori-no-Hachibe for dinner!

Spend the day around Fukuoka city today, starting with a visit to the iconic Dazaifu Tenmangu Shrine, revering the god of learning, culture and the arts. In the afternoon, visit the Kyushu National Museum, or spend the rest of the day at Boss E Zo Fukuoka, a futuristic complex filled with innovative attractions and a state of the art digital experiential museum!
