Depart from the Sunrise Tours Desk in Kyoto Avanti and head to Itsukushima Shrine
Head to Kyoto Station. Meet up with customers of tours departing from Osaka and Hiroshima at Hotel Granvia Hiroshima. Take the JR West Miyajima Ferry to Miyajima. The cruise offers an up-close view of Itsukushima Shrine's large torii gate. And Head to Itsukushima Shrine. Itsukushima Shrine is A World Heritage site. Established in the 6th century, this shrine is one of Japan's finest and is famous for its beautiful Shinden-zukuri style structure (architecture representative of a nobles' residence in the Heian period). The contrast of the green of Mt. Misen behind the lacquered shrine pavilion and the blue of the Seto Sea is beautiful and evocative of the underwater palace of Ryugujo.
Lunch at Miyajima and Head to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park / Atomic Bomb Dome
Time for lunch is allotted on Miyajima. This region is known for oysters, Hiroshima-style okonomiyaki, and conger eel rice bowl, which are available at many shops on Miyajima. Customers are free to enjoy their preferred meals. And Then Head to Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. This large-scale park was established in 1949 after the Pacific War ended, and is visited by countless visitors as a symbol of peace. The Atomic Bomb Dome within the park is a symbol of the disastrous atomic bombing during WWII, the first atomic bombs used in human history, and has been preserved as it was to promote peace and elimination of atomic weapons around the world.
Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum
The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum was built to convey the devastation caused by the atomic bomb to future generations. The museum collects and displays photographs and materials showing the relics of the atomic bomb survivors and the devastation of the bombing and introduces the history of Hiroshima before and after the bombing and the situation in the atomic age.
