Much loved Aussie TV personality and educator Costa Georgiadis is taking his first overseas tour to Okinawa, the stunning tropical islands of southern Japan. This fully inclusive tour will include many of Costa’s favourite things – gardens and farms, fresh food, music, arts and crafts, the ocean and even karate! There will be plenty of hands on experiences. Assisting Costa will be his friend Richard Snashall, Aussie filmmaker and regular to Japan. Richard will help run the show and ensure you beautifully capture your experience on your camera or gadget. Day 1 Sunday 21st October

IMPORTANT DEPARTURE INFORMATION
Please be at the ANA Airways check in counter Sydney International Airport by 6.30pm for your flight to Okinawa via Haneda. Please make sure you have your passport, tickets and contact details on your luggage
ANA Airways flight NH880 departs at 9.30pm for Haneda.

Day 2 Monday 22nd October

On arrival at 5.05am connect with Ana Airways flight NH993 which departs at 06.40am for Okinawa. Arrive Okinawa at 9.20am and proceed through the arrival hall, and clear customs. Transfer to your hotel by coach to drop off luggage. After luggage drop we have a short walk to a local restaurant for lunch followed by free time to wander around Kokusai Street, Naha’s main street lined with shops, cafes and boutiques. At 2.00pm we walk back to the hotel for check in. This afternoon at 3.30pm please meet in the hotel lobby were we will walk to the nearby market/studio to shop for ingredients and to participate in an Okinawa local food cooking class. You will learn about locally grown products that will be used in the cooking class and for you to savour for dinner. At 8.00pm we stroll back to the hotel.

Day 3 Tuesday 23rd October

Please meet in the hotel lobby by 8.30am. This morning we will attend and experience a Karate lesson which is a popular form of martial arts and Okinawa is said to be the place of its origin. This will be followed by lunch at a local restaurant. This afternoon we will visit Shurijo Castle which is an icon of Okinawan culture and is believed to have been built in the 14thcentury. At 4.00pm we attend a Pottery making class. Okinawa is known for Tsuboya pottery a type of unglazed pottery that became all the rage on the island in the 16th & 17th Centuries. Tonight’s dinner will be at Yataimura food stalls a popular new spot for all flood lovers. Then you will have time to enjoy a beverage at the Karate themed Dojo Bar.

Day 4 Wednesday 24th October

Please check out of the hotel and settle any incidentals you may have incurred during your stay. Please meet in the hotel lobby by 9.30am for departure. This morning we will visit the former Japanese Navy Underground headquarters which serves as a reminder of the calamities of war. The tunnels remained untouched for many years and were finally opened to the public in 1970. At 12.00pm we enjoy lunch at a local restaurant located within a nice garden. This afternoon our activities continue and include a school visit and then to John the ‘Cheese guy’, all locally made cheese owned by an Englishman and going that extra mile to make truly special produce. Dinner tonight for your enjoyment will be buffet style at a local restaurant. Transfer to hotel at 8.40pm and check in.

Day 5 Thursday 25th October

This morning please meet in the hotel lobby by 8.30am. Today we visit Araha Beach were you will be able to indulge in snorkelling the warm pristine waters and a wonderful way to explore the magic of the ocean. This is followed by the excitement of Dragon boat racing activity. Lunch will be within a subtropical setting at the South East Botanical Garden. After lunch you will have free time to explore the gardens. This afternoon we continue onto to visit an art gallery and return back to the hotel at approximately 5.15pm. This evening a meal coupon will be provided for dinner. Tonight after dinner please meet in the hotel lobby at 8.30pm for our visit to a music club to immerse yourself in some traditional folk music.

Day 6 Friday 26th October

Please check out of the hotel and settle any incidentals you may have incurred during your stay. Please meet in the hotel lobby by 8.30am. This morning we visit Nakagusuku Castle one of the several castles built during the era of Ryukyu Kingdom. Only ruins remain however these are well preserved. We continue onto Yomitan Village which is well known for its magnificent pottery, beaches and agriculture. Lunch will be at a local restaurant followed by a visit to Ogimi Village often sought after by foreigners to learn the secrets to long life. Ogimi Village is also home to the traditional Okinawan material known as Bashofu which is made from the fibres of the Japanese banana plant called Basho. We also drop in to visit an organic Banana farm which harvest island bananas known as Shima banana. Transfer to hotel at 6.30pm for check in. A meal coupon will be provided for dinner.

Day 7 Saturday 27th October

Please check out of the hotel and settle any incidentals you may have incurred during your stay. Please meet in the hotel lobby by 9.00am for departure. We transfer to Kokusai Street for free time for any last minute shopping. Lunch today will at a local restaurant and include the award winning, premium Motobu Beef, flavourful, sweet and tender. Upon completion of lunch at 1.00pm we are transferred to Naha Airport for your journey home.
Ana Airways flight NH474 departs Okinawa at 6.15pm for Haneda. On arrival at 8.35pm connect with Ana Airways flight NH879 which departs at 10.20pm for Sydney.

Day 8 Sunday 28th October

Arrive into Sydney at 9.45am were your tour ends.
