SUICA card

The Suica card is a prepaid e-money card and can be used on JR East lines, subways and others in the Tokyo metropolitan area. Simply touch your Suica card at the ticket gate. It will save your time to purchase a ticket from the vending machines. You can also top up to increase the balance, if required.

Using your SUICA Card

  • The card has a usable balance of JPY1,500 pre-loaded and a JPY500  card fee which can be refunded in Japan. (No Child cards available outside of Japan)
  • The Suica card can be used on the JR East lines in the Tokyo metropolitan area as well as subways, buses and the Tokyo Monorail that connects Haneda Airport and Tokyo. In addition to the Tokyo area, the Suica card can be used for some other transportation systems in the Sendai, Niigata, Hokkaido, Tokai, West Japan and Kyushu area.
  • Simply touch the Suica card to the reader at the ticket gate to hop on and off the trains, subways and buses.
  • You will not need to purchase a ticket from the vending machines.
  • When you get off the train, the fare will be calculated at that station and automatically deducted from the card. If the balance is insufficient, you will need to top up your Suica card.

Note: Additional tickets must be purchased to use the Suica card for travel on a limited express, express or Green Car. The Suica card cannot be used for travel on the Shinkansen Bullet Trains.


  • The Suica card can be used not only for transportation but for shopping as well. You can make purchases onboard trains as well as vending machines, rent coin lockers and at convenience stores and restaurants.

Recharge your SUICA Card

  • The Suica card can be and used as many times as desired.
  • The Suica card can be up to a maximum of 20,000 yen at automatic ticket vending machines and fare adjustment machines displaying the Suica mark.
    Only yen may be used to load a card. A credit card cannot be used to top up a Suica card.


  • Non Refundable once purchased through JTB Australia.
  • Lost SUICA Cards cannot be replaced.
  • Deposit of 500 yen can be refunded if you take the Suica card to a Ticket office (Midori no Modoguchi) at a JR East Suica accepting office BEFORE you leave Japan. JTB Australia is NOT able refund the deposit

 Pickup & Delivery

  • Once purchased you can collect your Suica card from either our JTB Sydney or Melbourne office. 
  • SUICA cards cannot be delivered to PO boxes.
  • Delivery and handling fees apply ($7.00 for DX mail, or $20.00 courier). (Please Note: Period of 21st December – 3rd January courier is not available and you may expect some delay for DX mail during this period.).  
  • Courier requires a signature upon delivery. Please provide an address where you will be during normal office hours. If unable to sign for a delivery, please select a DX Mail Option or a pick up.
  • JTB is not liable for lost or misplaced passes.
