Nagashima Spa Land – This theme park is about just one thing – roller coasters. It’s most famous roller coaster still holds the record for the longest distance (it also used to hold the record for the fastest and highest).
Space World, Kitakyushu – At the northern tip of Kyushu island is this park the has a exciting (you guessed it) space theme. Close to Fukuoka, this park has rides and attractions for the whole family.
Eigamura Studios, Kyoto – This place is where movies and television still film samurai dramas. If you are lucky, you can watch the action if they’re filming and they’ll let you dress up as a samurai, ninja, geisha and many other costumes. You can also look at all the sets that were made to reflect the Edo and Meiji periods of Japan’s history.
Edo Wonderland, Noboribetsu, Hokkaido – This park is a full scale village recreation of the Edo (1603-1868) Period of Japan. With shows, ninjas and free costume hire and shuttle buses – it’s fun for everyone. Check out the amazing ninja maze and the house of optical illusions.
Tobu World Square, Nikko – Have you ever wanted to see the Sphinx, the White House and the Great Wall of China all at the same time, all in the same place? Well, you can at Tobu World Square. They’ve created over 100 of the world’s most famous places at 1/25th the size. The level of detail is astounding and the artists have even created 140,000 mini people to populate them. You can even see robberies, weddings and everyday life happening in the crowds.
Huis Ten Bosch, Nagasaki – Want to experience a slice of Holland while you’re in Nagasaki? Huis Ten Bosch is a full-scale recreation of Dutch buildings that includes restaurants, shopping and rides. In the spring, the tulips will take your breath away.
